3 Injured in Head-on Accident in Nice
Nice, CA (March 19, 2019) – Three people were injured in a multi-vehicle crash in Nice. The accident occurred on the morning of March 19 on Highway 20.
Duane Roork, 57, of Willits was heading west on Highway 20 near Lakeshore Boulevard in a Toyota Corolla. His vehicle went across the solid double yellow lines into the eastbound lane.
Jose Gomez, 29, of Williams, was driving a semi truck east on Highway 20 when Roork swerved out in front of his vehicle. The two vehicles collided head on.
Roork’s car was then pushed back into the westbound lane, where it collided with a Dodge Ram pickup driven by Thomas York, 50, of Clearlake Oaks. All three vehicles came to rest on the shoulder.
Roork had to extricated from his vehicle by emergency crews. He suffered a broken ankle and a punctured lung and was airlifted to a local hospital. Gomez and York suffered minor injuries. Both were treated at the accident scene.
