Fiery Crash on Interstate 5 in Elk Grove

On Wednesday afternoon, at a little after 2:00pm, a vehicle caught fire on Interstate-5 near the Laguna Boulevard off-ramp in Elk Grove.

The vehicle reportedly struck a guardrail and highway sign. After impact, the car burst into flames.

A truck driver was the first person to arrive on the scene following the accident. The truck driver attempted to put out the vehicle’s flames using a fire extinguisher.

Other motorists stopped to render aid, but none were able to extract the trapped driver from the fiery vehicle.

The condition of the driver is unknown.
