La Mesa Rollover Crash Kills 1, Injures 2
An accident on a freeway connector ramp has killed a driver and injured two passengers. The crash happened in La Mesa on the evening of February 8.
The 63-year-old driver was driving too fast when she attempted to merge onto the Interstate 8 ramp from Route 125. When trying to negotiate the curve, she hit a retaining wall, causing the vehicle to overturn.
The driver, from National City, died at the accident scene due to blunt force trauma. The two passengers were trapped inside. Witnesses smashed out the windshield to free the front-seat passenger, a 39-year-old man. Firefighters had to free the back-seat passenger, a 54-year-old woman. Both were transported to the hospital with moderate to severe injuries.
