Orick, CA (January 15, 2019) – A driver lost control of her vehicle in Orick, killing a passenger and injuring herself and her child. The fatal accident occurred on the afternoon of January 15 on U.S. 101.

Around 12:30 p.m. on January 15, a car drove off the US 101 highway, overturning onto the embankment, just north of Big Lagoon resulting in fatal injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Tina Josephine Siders, 26, was driving south on U.S. 101, near Big Lagoon. She had two passengers in her vehicle, Laura Ann Siders, 56, and 1-year-old Johnathan Carrete. Tina Siders made a sharp turn, causing her car to drift onto the shoulder. She then overcorrected several times, causing the car to drive off the highway and down an embankment.

A nearby boater witnessed the accident and rescued Tina Siders and her child from the water. Both were taken to a local hospital to be treated for injuries. Laura Ann Siders was ejected from the car and died at the accident scene.
