I don’t know about you, but I’m always looking homegrown fresh produce, breads, vegetables, and more. It’s worth the drive to grab a delicious taste of California at the Chico Certified Farmer’s Market. This year-round market is the perfect place to get farm-fresh ingredients for your next gourmet meal.

The market is certified by both the Butte County Agricultural Commissioner and the State of California Department of Food and Agriculture’s Direct Marketing Program and serves three local Northern California communities.

The organization operates four farmer’s markets. Two of these are year-round, every Wednesday and Saturday in Chico. The others operate seasonally in the nearby communities of Oroville and Paradise.

Yummy Food
You’ll find fresh, locally grown food as well as handmade artisan products. Offerings may change seasonally and for different vendors, but you’ll likely find everything you need for your favorite recipes, including fresh, locally grown fruit and vegetables, honey, olive oil, nuts, herbs, and grass-fed beef, lamb, ham, chicken and pork, as well as farm-fresh eggs.

You’ll also discover plenty of prepared foods, like fresh-baked artisan breads.

Looking for something for your garden? At the Chico Certified Farmer’s Market, you can also find the perfect mix of fresh plants and flowers for your garden, as well as handmade craft items perfect for your décor or to give as gifts.

Have some local products to sell? You can apply to become a vendor! The Board meets monthly to consider new applicants, who will need to fill out paperwork and provide product samples to be considered for approval.

The first Chico Certified Farmer’s Market was opened in 1980 as a way for local farmers and artisans to sell directly to local consumers. Today, you can find the market in the City of Chico’s Municipal Parking Lot #1, located at 2nd and Wall Streets in downtown Chico. Bring the family for a day of local shopping – it’s a great opportunity to teach the kids about local food sources.
