Elderly Man Causes Rear-End Accident in San Francisco

San Francisco, CA (March 16, 2019) – An elderly man jumped out of a moving vehicle in San Francisco and escaped with scratches, but ended up causing a subsequent crash. The accident occurred on the evening of March 16 on Interstate 280.

An 80-year-old man was driving on Interstate 280 at Westborough Boulevard when he jumped from his moving car. He sat and looked at traffic before walking to a center divide. The man suffered scratches on his head.

CHP officers arrived at the scene. The man would not tell officers why he jumped. He was taken to a local hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

While the man’s car did not crash, another driver stopped to avoid hitting him and was rear-ended. The vehicles suffered significant damage.
