Man Ejected in Rollover Accident in Escondido

Escondido, CA (March 3, 2019) – A man was killed in a rollover crash in Escondido. The fatal accident occurred on the morning of March 3 on Quince Street and Valley Parkway.

A 54-year-old Escondido man was driving a Toyota Tacoma pickup truck and heading south on Quince Street when he hit a Mercedes sedan at the Valley Parkway intersection. A 41-year-old Escondido woman was driving the Mercedes.

The Tacoma rolled several times due to the impact. The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected. The Tacoma rolled on top and pinned him down on the road.

Bystanders removed the truck. The man was taken to a local hospital, where he later died. A woman in the Tacoma suffered minor injuries. She had to be removed from the truck by paramedics but was wearing a seatbelt. The Mercedes hit a retaining wall. The driver was not injured.

PG&E Says It Knew Its Lines Could Spark Fires

PG&E Corp acknowledged in July 2019 that it has known for many years that its power lines could fail, sparking wildfires in the process. The acknowledgment came in a federal court filing which had been mandated by U.S. district judge William Alsup, who had ordered PG&E to respond to a Wall Street Journal article on a “paragraph-by-paragraph basis.”
