Atwater, CA (May 4, 2019) – A man was killed and two others were injured in a DUI crash in Atwater. The fatal accident occurred don the morning of May 4 on Highway 140 near Sultana Drive

A Ford Focus had rolled over on the shoulder of eastbound Highway 140. The driver has lost control, with the Ford rolling over multiple times.

The driver, Tristan Shelton, 19, of Merced, was walking away from the accident scene when police officers arrived. There were three other passengers inside the Ford. Dezhia Lane, 19, of Los Banos, and Guillermo Cortez, 18, of Atwater, suffered minor injuries. An unidentified 20-year-old man from Winton was killed in the crash.

Shelton was arrested and taken to a local hospital to receive medical clearance. He was then booked into the Merced County Jail for DUI and hit and run, both felonies.

PG&E Says It Knew Its Lines Could Spark Fires
