Suspect Turns Himself In, Faces Charges in Fatal South Lake Tahoe Accident

South Lake Tahoe, CA (October 6, 2019) – An elderly man was killed in a hit and run crash in South Lake Tahoe. The fatal accident occurred on the evening of October 6 on Lake Tahoe Boulevard.

The pedestrian, a man in his 70s, was crossing Lake Tahoe Boulevard, near Fairway Avenue, when he was hit by a car and thrown onto the road. The man died at the accident scene.

The driver, 20-year-old Marlin Cruz, took off after the crash. He turned himself in a few hours later. He walked into the police station and told officers he may have been involved in a crash. Detectives found his vehicle and linked him to the fatal hit and run accident.

Cruz was booked into the El Dorado County Jail on a felony hit and run charge. Bail has been set at $75,000.
