Galt Man Dies in Fatal Yreka Accident

Yreka, CA (February 28, 2019) – A semi truck crash in Yreka has killed a truck driver. The fatal accident occurred on the morning of February 28 on Interstate 5.  

Law enforcement received a call a big rig that had jackknifed and was blocking lanes on northbound Interstate 5 between Anderson Grade Summit and Collier Rest Area. A Reddaway semi truck with double trailers was blocking the right lane. A dead man was found on the right shoulder. He was identified as a 59-year-old man from Galt.

No other vehicles were found at the accident scene. It is believed that the driver had hit the hillside, exited the truck and was hit and killed by another vehicle. CHP found a 35-year-old man several miles away. The man, who was driving a Volvo truck, was interviewed by police and believed to be the driver who hit the victim.
