King City Rollover Accident Leads to Death of Marcelino Martinez III

King City, CA (September 30, 2018) – An 18-year old man from Salinas died in an accident in King City. The fatal crash happened on the evening of September 30 on Highway 101.

Marcelino Martinez III was driving a GMC Yukon on Highway 101 near Teague Avenue at speeds of up to 90 mph. The SUV drifted into the center divider and overturned. The GMC was hit by a Chevrolet Cruze. A 16-year-old boy from San Juan Bautista in the GMC ran out of the vehicle.

The GMC was then hit by a Dodge Ram, who did not see the GMC in the dark. The impact killed Martinez. He died at the accident scene. Two teen passengers, ages 16 and 19, suffered major injuries. Both were taken to local hospitals. Three other people involved, all from King City, suffered moderate injuries.
