Police Release Surveillance Footage Of Suspect In Fatal Pedestrian Accident
October 30, 2017: Police released pictures and surveillance footage of a driver suspected of striking and killing a pedestrian in South Los Angeles. The suspect exited the automobile and fled on foot. The victim was 76-year-old Herman Charles Avery Jr. of Inglewood. Avery was crossing Western Avenue at 81st Street, going west, around 6:15 p.m. Sunday when he was hit.
Witnesses state that the vehicle’s driver fled the scene leaving Avery severely maimed. The suspect, who had a young boy with him, drove to Western Avenue and 82nd Street, where he abandoned the vehicle. The suspect is described as black, 6 feet 2 inches to 6 feet 4 inches tall with a medium build. He was wearing dark clothes.
