Hemet Crash Kills Ray Billings Jr.

Hemet, CA (July 22, 2018) – A motor scooter rider died in a hit and run crash in Hemet. The accident happened in the 1200 block of West Florida Avenue on the evening of July 22. 

Hemet resident Ray Billings Jr., 64, was crossing the street in the 1200 block of West Florida Avenue near North Palm Avenue. He was in his motorized scooter, outside of a marked crosswalk, when he was hit by a Hyundai vehicle heading eastbound on Florida Avenue at speeds of 100 mph.

The driver of the Hyundai never stopped after striking the elderly victim. The man was dragged for hundreds of feet until his body was dismembered and severed into two.
Witnesses found the Hyundai a mile from the accident scene. The driver was spotted trying to flag down a ride from passing motorists. He was arrested by police before he could get away.  He was identified as Eugene McArthur Pamilton Jr., 23, of Hemet.
