Redlands 2017 Bicycle Classic Brings Excitement To San Bernardino County

San Bernardino County is once again a part of the Redlands Bicycle Classic, an annual circuit race that draws top bicyclists to the area. Professional men and women bicyclists participate in the five-day event, which began May 3rd, 2017, and continues through May 7th, 2017. The event is currently in its 33rd year and offers excitement as residents from Redlands, Highland, Yucaipa and other surrounding communities take to the streets and cheer on their favorite athletes.

The Redlands Classic was originally created to bring tourists to the Redlands area. Today, the focus is on the benefits of cycling. The organizing committee also focuses on the core values of diversity, health and the environment.  The Bicycle Accident Lawyers of Nadrich & Cohen, LLP applaud the efforts of all those who helped make the Redlands Classic event possible.

With roots going all the way back to 1985, the Redlands Classic is the longest-running staged bike race in the United States. The event, presented by the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians, is run solely by volunteers, many who work all year long planning an event of this caliber. The Redlands Classic does its part to provide financial assistance for local groups. It serves as a fundraiser for Boy Scouts, Kiwanis, and Rotary Club. The event also has vendors on hand to promote a healthy lifestyle.

The event encompasses five stages traveling through San Bernardino County. The race started in Highland on Wednesday and then took place at Big Bear Lake the following day.  The Big Bear race is particularly challenging, as it features rolling terrain at very high elevations. On Friday, racers traveled through Yucaipa. They’ll head to Redlands on Saturday and finish up on Sunday with the Sunset Road Race.

This year, Ruth Winder of the United Healthcare Pro Cycling Team won the Stage V Women’s Final and Francisco Mancebo of the Canyon Cycles Team won the Stage V Men’s Final.  The San Bernardino Accident Lawyers of Nadrich & Cohen, LLP congratulate Ms. Winder and Mr. Mancebo on their respective victories. The combined prize money for men and women totals over $40,000.
