Richard Jimenez Killed in Head-on Crash on Highway 33


Newman Accident Kills Richard Jimenez, Injures Victoria Jimenez

Newman, CA (August 14, 2018) – An elderly man was killed in a head-on collision in Newman. The fatal crash happened on the afternoon of August 14 on Highway 33.

The man was identified as 71-year-old Richard Jimenez from Newman. The man was driving a Ford Expedition north on Highway 33 near Sanches Road when he drifted into the adjacent lane. He collided head-on with a Peterbilt truck.

Jimenez died at the accident scene. His passenger, 69-year-old Victoria Jimenez, suffered major injuries and was taken to a local hospital for treatment. The truck driver, Templeton resident Christopher Voelker, was not injured.

A California jury awarded over $2 billion on May 13th, 2019, to a husband and wife who claimed that the herbicide Roundup caused them to develop Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
