Single Vehicle Accident on Springville Avenue Leads to Fatality
Alex Torrez Flees on Foot, Leaves Passenger to Die in Porterville Crash
Porterville, CA (September 7, 2018) – A man was killed in a single vehicle accident in Porterville. The crash occurred on Springville Avenue on the morning of September 7.
Alex Torrez, 33, was driving a Dodge Grand Caravan on Springville Avenue, near John J. Doyle Elementary, when he hit the dirt shoulder on the side of the road. The Dodge then hit a chain link fence, which impaled the male passenger. The Dodge continued on, striking a power pole and overturning.
The passenger was ejected from the vehicle. He later died at a local hospital.
Torrez fled the scene on foot, causing John J. Doyle Elementary School to go in lock down for over an hour. Police are still looking for Torrez, who is described as a Hispanic male adult with short dark hair. He was wearing dark blue baggy shorts and a gray shirt.
