Southern California Metrolink train crash: 28 people hospitalized, 4 critical


Metrolink Train detrailmentAt least 28 people were injured today after a Southern California Metrolink commuter train struck a truck in Oxnard, CA, around 5:45AM on Tuesday, February 24, 2015.  The Los-Angeles-bound train departed from Ventura, CA. Police report that prior to impact, the Metrolink operator reported seeing the truck and applying his brakes.  The crash resulted in a massive fireball. In total, five cars were derailed and three were left on their side.

Of the 28 injured, four were reported as “critically injured,” including the engineer. Nine patients, including four in critical condition, were transported to Ventura County Medical Center. The conductor was treated and released.
