Stolen Vehicle Involved in Fatal Hit and Run Crash
A person went on a crime spree in Redding on the afternoon of April 4. First, the person stole a vehicle, ran a stop light and then crashed into another vehicle. The driver of the stolen vehicle then took off as a woman in the other vehicle died from her injuries.
The accident happened near Girvan Road and Highway 273 in South Redding. Police and sheriff’s deputies in the Redding area used helicopters and K-9 units to search for the hit and run driver, but have not found anything yet. Highway 273 was closed in both directions as police investigated.
The victim’s SUV landed in a median as the driver sped off. The woman was taken to a local hospital to be treated for her injuries, but she later died.
