Mirwais Azimi Arrested for DUI in Fatal Auburn Accident

Auburn, CA (October 15, 2019) – A teen was killed and two others were injured in a crash in Auburn. The fatal accident occurred on the evening of October 15 on Foresthill Road.

Mirwais Azimi, 21, from Carmichael, was driving drunk when he lost control around a sharp curve on Foresthill Road, near Deadwood Road. Azimi crashed his Toyota Matrix into a tree. A 15-year-old boy in the front passenger seat was killed in the crash. He died at the accident scene.

Azimi was airlifted to a local hospital with major injuries. Another passenger, Samir Niazi, 18, from Carmichael, was also hospitalized with moderate injuries.

Azimi was later arrested at the hospital. He faces charges of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter.
