Three Pedestrians Seriously Injured In Oakland Crosswalk
A surveillance camera recorded footage of a vehicle plowing into three Oakland family members, one of whom is a 5-year-old boy who’s currently paralyzed and recovering in a hospital.
The collision occurred at Fruitvale and Brookdale Avenues after the trio visited a park and stopped for ice cream.
The surveillance footage captures the two older women in a state of shock as the vehicle barrels towards them, prior to their being struck and being launched airborne. The 5-year-old boy was dragged by the car for a short distance.
One of the women underwent surgery after sustaining fractured ribs and damage to her internal organs.
The other woman suffered a broken ankle, torn knee ligaments and a fractured right hip, for which she will need multiple surgeries.
The 5-year-old boy was found under the vehicle with right pelvis and spinal fractures. Currently, the child is paralyzed, but there is a chance that with physical therapy he may be able to regain the ability to walk.
