Driver of Stolen Truck Causes Fatal Accident

A 4-year-old girl was killed Wednesday afternoon when the driver of a stolen pickup truck ran through a red light and caused an accident. The girl’s mother and 2-year-old sibling were also injured in the crash.

At 12:47 p.m. on January 17, a sheriff spotted a stolen pickup on Bailey Road and followed it on Highway 4. The driver accelerated after exiting the highway at Somersville Road. The driver then ran the red light at the intersection of Delta Fair Boulevard and collided with a Ford F-150 truck.

The suspect, a 23-year-old Pittsburg man, was taken to the hospital. He was interviewed and arrested on suspicion of one count of murder and two counts of felony evading. He was booked into Martinez County Jail, where he was being held on $1,050,000 bail.

Somersville Road was closed in both directions near Highway 4so authorities could investigate.
