Two Killed In Chain-Reaction 57 Freeway Crash In Diamond Bar
Around 2:55 a.m. a crash was reported, just south of Diamond Bar Boulevard on the southbound 57 Freeway. No injuries were reported in the first crash.
Then, a black vehicle slammed into the back of a tow truck that had responded to the scene of the first accident, ejecting the driver and passenger from the vehicle. Both driver and passenger of the black vehicle were pronounced dead at the scene.
The black vehicle came to a halt in the middle of the 57 freeway. A Good Samaritan in a green truck stopped to render aid. The driver of the green truck was standing on the Freeway shoulder when a white truck struck the green truck and the black vehicle.
The driver of the white truck has been hospitalized with critical injuries.
Authorities are attempting to confirm whether alcohol was involved.
Debris was scattered throughout the roadway. All southbound lanes, with the exception of the carpool lane, were closed for the investigation.
