Vietnam Veteran Struck And Killed By Hit & Run Driver In Fontana

Fontana police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed, Robert Alva, who was walking across the street on a green light and had the right of way. Alva, who is a Vietnam Veteran, landed on the hood of the car and fell onto the roadway. The driver reversed over Alva’s body in an attempt to flee the scene.

Police are requesting the public’s help in locating the driver who struck a veteran as he crossed a road in Fontana, then abandoned him to die in the street. Alva died at the scene.

Witnesses describe a four-door sedan with tinted windows, possibly a Toyota, as fleeing the scene. The car likely has extensive front-end damage. A description of the driver was not available. Investigators are also searching the area for more clues and reviewing area surveillance footage.
