Vincent Shaw Dies in Pedestrian Crash on 55 Freeway


Tustin Pedestrian Accident Kills Vincent Shaw, Causes Subsequent Crash

Tustin, CA (October 2, 2018) – A man was killed while walking on a freeway in Tustin. The fatal accident occurred on the morning of October 2 on the 55 Freeway.

A 38-year old man, identified as Vincent Shaw from Compton, was walking between the fast lane and carpool lane on the northbound 55 Freeway, near 17th Street. Shaw was hit by a Honda Accord. He died at the accident scene, while the driver suffered minor injuries. It is believed that Shaw’s death was a suicide.

Minutes later, the slowdown of traffic caused a multi-vehicle crash. Two more people suffered minor injuries and were taken to a local hospital.

Hidden FDA Database Concealed Reports of Surgical Stapler Malfunctions

A hidden FDA database of medical device failures was shut down in June 2019. The database contains medical device reports submitted to the FDA via its Alternative Summary Reporting Program from 1999 to 2019. Reports which were sent to this database were not, until recently, made public. The Alternative Summary Reporting Program is a non-public database, unlike the FDA’s MAUDE database which publicly logs medical device failures or defects for public review.
