Woman Injured in Hanford Car Accident Involving Semi Truck
Hanford, CA (April 23, 2018) – A 20-year-old Hanford woman was in a crash involving a semi truck. The accident happened on the morning of April 23 on 12 ¾ Avenue near Excelsior Avenue in Hanford.
The woman was driving her Nissan south on 12 ¾ Avenue in Hanford when she stopped at a stop sign at Excelsior Avenue. At the same time, a 34-year-old Tulare man was driving a Freightliner semi truck west on Excelsior Avenue, east of 12 ¾ Avenue.
The Freightliner driver approached 12 ¾ Avenue. The driver of the Nissan moved her car forward to turn east onto Excelsior Avenue. The Nissan got too close to the Freightliner, so the Freightliner driver hit the brakes and turned to the left to avoid an accident.
Instead, the front of the Freightliner crashed into the left side of the Nissan. The impact led both vehicles to travel off the roadway. They came to a rest on a dirt shoulder of Excelsior Avenue.
The driver of the Freightliner was not injured. However, the driver of the Nissan suffered major injuries.
