Woman Killed in Apparent Hit-and-Run in Huntington Beach ID’d

A woman was killed early Wednesday morning in an incident Huntington Beach police are investigating as the city’s first hit-and-run of the year, and she was identified by officials later in the day.

The victim has been identified as 53-year-old Huntington Beach resident Tina Elizabeth Boring, according to the Los Angeles Times. She was apparently struck around 12:40 a.m. by a car traveling northbound in the residential area of Seapoint Street, just north of Palm Avenue, according to Huntington Beach Police Officer Angela Bennett.
While Boring did suffer major trauma injuries consistent with being hit by a vehicle, no security cameras were placed in the area to capture the incident and no witnesses have come forward to corroborate, Bennett said.
Furthermore, the few skid marks found on the road were not consistent with a major crash, she added.

“Investigators are still looking for any kind of witnesses or evidence that may be located on scene,” Bennett said. “Anyone who has video, we would definitely want them to give us a call.”

The incident was reported by another motorist who saw the woman’s body lying in the road and stopped to alert authorities.

She was pronounced dead at the scene after officials responded.

Coroner’s officials remained at the scene later Wednesday morning, attempting to identify her. At the time, they said Boring appeared to be between 30 and 50 years old, but her injuries were so traumatic that she was not recognizable.

Area resident Michael Bourgeault said he didn’t hear anything until the frantic passerby happened upon the scene and called police around 12:45 a.m.

Police were on the scene a few minutes later, he said, and at that point he “saw the lady in the bike lane, pretty much kind of curled up.”

Seapoint Street had been shut down for hours but was later reopened.

No further details were immediately available.
