Woman Killed by Falling Eucalyptus Tree on Red Hill Avenue

Santa Ana Winds Causes Tree to Break, Fall on Car in Tustin

Tustin, CA (October 15, 2018) – A woman was killed when part of a large eucalyptus tree broke off and fell onto her car in Tustin. The fatal accident happened on the morning of October 15 at Red Hill Avenue.

The woman’s death was caused by the Santa Ana winds, which have been threatening the Southern California area. She died after she was trapped inside the car. She has not yet been identified. The tree, which fell at an apartment complex, also damaged a carport.

The winds are a concern, considering the low humidity and dry vegetation. There is a high risk of fire, particularly in the mountains, where wind gusts are expected to reach 65 mph.

Electric scooters, also called e-scooters, seem like a fun way to get around the city.  After all, they are inexpensive to rent, easy to locate using an app on your phone, and require very little effort to move longer distances.  Rental programs for these e-scooters are popping up in cities across California, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, and others.  Before you rent an electric scooter, there are some things to consider regarding liability and insurance in the event of an e-scooter accident.

PG&E Says It Knew Its Lines Could Spark Fires

PG&E Corp acknowledged in July 2019 that it has known for many years that its power lines could fail, sparking wildfires in the process. The acknowledgment came in a federal court filing which had been mandated by U.S. district judge William Alsup, who had ordered PG&E to respond to a Wall Street Journal article on a “paragraph-by-paragraph basis.”
