Worker Dies from Fall After Electrocution Accident, FL
I remember as a child watching public service announcements about the dangers of playing next to power lines. Everyone from G.I. Joe to Captain Planet had something to say about this dangerous activity. As an adult, the dangers of working/playing next to power lines seem as intuitive as not flying a kite on a freeway after years of having those PSA’s drilled into my head.
Not everyone has had the opportunity to watch a lot of Captain Planet or G.I. Joe as a child. In spite of attempts to make worker’s environments safer (especially around electrical hazards), more and more workers are being injured and even killed as a result of electrocution accidents.
The Miami Herald describes such an incident where a worker fell to his death after an electrocution accident in Boynton Beach, FL.
Tree Trimmer Dies From Fall
Nicholas Vitrano, 27, was working as a tree trimmer on a 40-foot ladder when the accident occurred. Not too many details were given regarding the circumstances of the accident, only that somehow his saw touched a power line causing Vitrano to be electrocuted and fall to his death.
What can be gathered from this information is that somehow Vitrano was unaware of the power line. What can not be directly inferred is why he was unaware of the power line. It could be neglect on his part or on the part of his supervisor in surveying the area or for some other unimaginable reason. An electrical injury attorney is equipped with the necessary tools to investigate situations like this.
Cause of Death To Be Determined
Immediately following the fall, Vitrano was rushed to the nearby hospital where he died. Medical examiners have yet to attribute the death to electrocution or to the fall. Our thoughts go out to the Vitrano family for their loss.
