You Could Have RSD

RSD/CRPS
RSD/CRPS

Do you have chronic burning pain? Is your skin also ultra sensitive to touch, sound and vibration? Have you recently undergone an operation or have you suffered a personal injury or broken bone? Is the site of the pain inflamed, bruised, mottled?

Do you have spasms in the muscles of the affected extremities? Do you also suffer from insomnia, short term memory loss, difficulties concentrating, or other changes in the limbic system? You could have Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (RSD).

RSD Is Difficult To Diagnose

Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy is extremely hard to diagnose because of the varied symptoms. All of the four symptoms mentioned are not required for a positive diagnosis but most patients do exhibit the characteristics of at least three out of the four at any given time.

At Nadrich & Cohen, our RSD specialists are ready to answer all your questions about RSD and how we can help you preserve your rights, call now at 1.800.718.4658 and speak with a proven RSD lawyer, click here RSD for more information.

According to the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), RSD Type I (here called RSD/CRPS), “is a chronic condition characterized by burning pain and abnormalities in the sensory, motor and autonomic nervous systems. The syndrome typically appears after an personal injury to a joint or limb, though it may occur with no obvious precipitating event.”

RSD Pain Doesn’t Diminish It Gets Worse

In the initial stages of RSD/CRPS, pain and swelling from the injury do not diminish it gets worse, spreading from the site of the injury to other parts of the limb, to the opposite limb, or to other parts of the body. The skin in the affected area is extremely sensitive to touch even the softest clothing can cause excruciating pain.

The area may also be discolored and feel extremely warm to the touch. Sweating patterns change, hair growth is affected in the area, muscles, joints, and even bones are affected by RSD.  In addition to everything else, the evidence of inflammation, as well as abnormal autonomic nervous system function, there are changes in motor systems as well.

These changes can include tremors, weakness and dystonia, which suggests a central nervous system involvement. Questions? Contact an experienced personal injury lawyer at The Law Offices of Nadrich & Cohen today at 1.800.718.4658.

“In 1993, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy was officially recognized as a disorder and given a code number with the International Category of Diseases (ICD-9 code 337.2). Each time a diagnosis of RSD is made, this code number should be used by the physician. We advise patients to ask their doctors to put this code on their medical records.

Statistics, such as ‘number of new cases each year’, are collected from this code identification. This information, called the Epidemiology, is very important in attempting to get recognition or funding for a disease. Because of the ICD-9 Code number, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy will continue to have a place in medical literature.” From the rsdsa-ca.org website.

Hidden FDA Database Concealed Reports of Surgical Stapler Malfunctions

A hidden FDA database of medical device failures was shut down in June 2019. The database contains medical device reports submitted to the FDA via its Alternative Summary Reporting Program from 1999 to 2019. Reports which were sent to this database were not, until recently, made public. The Alternative Summary Reporting Program is a non-public database, unlike the FDA’s MAUDE database which publicly logs medical device failures or defects for public review.
